The government has appointed Alejandro Henke as vice president of Banco Nación (BNA), after the position became vacant due to the promotion of Dario Wassermann to the presidency of the entity. The appointment was formalized through Decree 1/2026, published this Monday in the Official Gazette. Until his new appointment, Henke had served as a director of the state bank since January 2024, when Javier Milei's administration began. Henke is a close associate of Minister of Economy Luis Caputo, who brought him back to the bank's board in the current libertarian administration after he held that position between 2015 and 2017, as reported by the Argentine News Agency. Previously, he was an executive director at Proficio Investment, where he went after his time in public service. Since 1994, he was a manager at the Central Bank (BCRA), and between 2002 and 2003, he was a director, chief economist, and vice superintendent of the monetary authority. This appointment completes the restructuring of positions at the BNA, which previously saw the departure of its former head, Daniel Tillard, Wassermann's promotion to lead the entity, and the incorporation of Carolina Píparo as a director.
